Biography
B.A., Bard College; M.A., Yale University; M.A., Ph.D., University of Chicago (classics). Rana is interested in the relationship between ethics and aesthetics in ancient literary criticism, ancient and modern theories of emotion, and the history of conceptualizing fiction. She has published articles in classics journals on Plato’s critique of poetry in the Republic and Ion, and she is currently completing a manuscript on Plato's aesthetic theory and its poetic origins. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including a fellowship from the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the University of Chicago Century Fellowship. She has taught language courses and writing workshops at the University of Chicago and Bard College.
