B.A., Wesleyan University; M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., Yale University. Spent two years as ‘pensionnaire étranger’ at the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), where he had the opportunity to participate in the activities of the unité de recherche Paul-Celan. Has also studied in Regensburg and Konstanz. His research and teaching interests include the German Baroque and 20 th century German literature, with a particular focus on Paul Celan’s poetry and correspondence. His research and teaching interests are also in comparative literary studies and translation studies. His most recent work, a book chapter entitled “A Secret Echo Outside of Time: Paul Celan and the Autumn Crocus,” is forthcoming in Transparent Texts: Self-Referentiality and Self- Reflexivity in Literature (eds. Florian Lippert and Marcel Schmid, Brill/Rodopi). At Bard since 2017.
